WASHINGTON, D.C. – The 23rd-ranked Salisbury University kept its late-season momentum rolling with an easy road victory over the Catholic Cardinals, 198-62, on Saturday afternoon at DuFour Center Pool.
MEET NOTES
- Rowan O'Donoghue medaled in all four of her events with three golds and one silver, including solo titles in the 50-yard freestyle (24.54) and 500 free (5:00.52).
- Maddie Powell dominated the breaststroke events, winning gold in the 100 breast (1:06.54) and 200 breast (2:25.80) as part of a three-medal day.
- Olivia Polucha secured a gold medal in the 200 free (1:57.19) and a bronze in the 100 free (54.94).
- Lily Griffin matched O'Donoghue with three golds and a silver, taking individual first place in the 100 butterfly (57.29) and second in the 200 fly (2:07.79).
- Rachel Rickabaugh won two golds and a silver, including solo gold in the 100 free (54.77) and silver behind O'Donoghue in the 500 free (5:12.73).
- Libby Miyashita established a new program record in the 200 fly, winning her race in 2:05.77.
- Salisbury went one-two in the meet-opening 200 medley relay. Touching first in 1:47.43 was the A-team of Isabelle Salvatore, Mackenzie Gula, Griffin, and Kaitlyn McGuire; in second at 1:48.44 was the B-side of Logan Bagley, Powell, Miyashita, and O'Donoghue.
- The Sea Gulls closed with a dominant performance in the 400 free relay, winning gold by over six seconds behind the quartet of Griffin, Alexa Hilty, Rickabaugh, and O'Donoghue (3:35.39).
- SU skipped town with 33 medals, including 12 gold, 12 silver, and nine bronze.
PROGRAM RECORDS
The Sea Gulls will wrap up the regular season next Friday against Delmarva Peninsula foils Washington College. First events from Chestertown, Md., are slated for 6 p.m.
