Miller's career-high lifts Women’s Basketball over Penn State Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Salisbury University women's basketball program picked up a 82-56 road win against Penn State Harrisburg Saturday afternoon inside the Capital Union Building.

Salisbury (12-8) earned an early narrow advantage, outscoring Penn State Harrisburg (7-14) 16-15 at the end of the first quarter. The quarter had six lead changes and three ties as the teams traded baskets throughout.

The SU offense kept rolling in the second quarter, posting a 47 percent shooting percentage and earning a three-point halftime lead after outscoring PSH 17-15 for the quarter. The Nittany Lions were able to tie the game once in the quarter, but SU never let go of the lead.

The momentum continued into the third quarter for SU, as they added to their advantage, outscoring PSH 26-14. Salisbury posted a 15-point advantage heading into the final quarter of action and shot 50 percent from the floor in the third while hitting four three-pointers.

Salisbury soared in the fourth quarter to shut the door, outscoring Penn State Harrisburg 23-12 to earn the 82-56 win. Nicole Miller led all scorers with a career-high 30 points, while adding seven rebounds, five steals, and three assists.

  • Abby Plaugher posted 15 points with seven rebounds and three steals. 
  • Keturah Stewart tallied 12 points with five assists and four rebounds. 
  • SU shot 46 percent from the floor and knocked down seven threes. 
  • The Salisbury defense forced 32 PSH turnovers. 
The Sea Gulls are back on the road against Franklin and Marshall on Feb. 4th at 6 p.m.
