No. 17 Men’s Soccer outlasts Ursinus in midweek matinee

COLLEGEVILLE, PA. – The 17th-ranked Salisbury University men's soccer team posted a fourth straight win in October by defeating the Ursinus College Bears 2-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Patterson Field.

The Sea Gulls (11-1-2) tested the Bears' (5-5-2) defense from the get-go, with Dale Gordon and Liam Pierce each taking shots on target that Jaden Ottley denied. SU garnered three corners in the opening 15 minutes to the Bears' zero.

The Maroon and Gold broke through moments later after Gordon sent in a corner to the back post for David Brunetti, who redirected the cross to Brogan Eastlack for a point-blank finish to get the visitors ahead.

Ursinus would not take long to respond, getting a tally from Joseph Kmetz roughly two minutes later to knot up the affair.

After subbing into the match 25 minutes through, Noah Blankensop put together a sequence of dribbles that led to SU regaining a 2-1 advantage at the 28-minute mark. The Gulls peppered 10 shots compared to Ursinus' two in the first frame.

The Sea Gulls were unable to secure an insurance marker while outshooting the Bears 8-2. Ursinus mustered up a late opportunity that hit the post in the final minute, and the Sea Gulls went on to tighten the screws until the final whistle.
