SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury University women's soccer head coach
Kwame Lloyd announced on Thursday that he will resign at the conclusion of the 2026 season.
"After much thought and consideration, I've decided to step away from my current role to pursue new opportunities for our family," Lloyd said. "While this was not an easy decision, we are excited about what lies ahead, both personally and professionally."
"We would like to thank Coach Lloyd for more than a decade of dedicated leadership and service to our university," Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation
Monica Polizzi said. "Throughout his tenure, he has embodied what it means to be a Sea Gull, both on and off the pitch. He has consistently encouraged his student-athletes to be leaders on campus and in our community, while emphasizing the importance of service, academic achievement, and personal growth. We are grateful for the lasting impact he has made on our student-athletes and the Salisbury University community, and we wish Coach Lloyd and his family nothing but the very best in their next chapter."
Lloyd, the third head coach in program history, has guided the Sea Gulls to 107 wins in his 14 years at the helm. The Susquehanna graduate has recorded 10 or more wins during his tenure five times and was named the Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2019 when he led SU to a 14-game unbeaten streak from September 11, 2019, to October 30, 2019, while never missing a conference tournament.
Lloyd has coached five all-region selections, one Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Player of the Year, one C2C Rookie of the Year, two C2C Scholar-Athletes of the Year and 58 all-conference selections.
"I have called the Eastern Shore my home for the past 14 years, and I have been blessed to work at Salisbury University," Lloyd said. "I am thankful for the opportunities that Salisbury University and the athletic administration have afforded me to impact my teams over the years and the Salisbury community. To my colleagues here at Salisbury University, you will be missed. To my players, present and past, thank you for your support, prayers, and love over the past 14 years. To my family (Julie, Kijana, Jada), thank you for all the sacrifices you make daily to make my career dreams come true! GO GULLS!"
A national search for a new head coach will begin at the conclusion of the season.
