HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. – The Salisbury University women's golf team stood tall and finished steady in the second and final round of the Battle at Bulle Rock, hosted by Alvernia University on Tuesday at Bulle Rock Golf Club.
The Sea Gulls posted a 72-over 360 on the day, just three strokes back of their day-one mark, and wrapped up the week with a 141-over 717. The card placed SU fourth in a field of nine complete teams but second among the Division III competition, behind only third-place Stevenson (715) and ahead of Division II foes Seton Hill (726) and Lock Haven (817).
ROUND NOTES
- Krista Brosius shot a 12-over 84 that matched her first-day total and gave her a 24-over 168 for the week. Brosius finished in third place outright among the 46-woman leaderboard and was the only D3 golfer to crack the top five.
- Stella Jaffe rebounded from an off first round by carving eight strokes off her second-round card for a 13-over 85. She finished 13th individually at a 34-over 178.
- Sydney Lynott posted up two strokes back of Jaffe, tying for 14th with a 21-over 93 on Tuesday and a 36-over 180 for the tournament.
- Ava Kelly shot a 26-over 98 to finish with a 47-over 191, good for a tie for 23rd.
- Kaeli Newcomb took 39th after carding a 39-over 111 for the day and a 71-over 215 for the week.
The Sea Gulls will hit Williamsburg National Golf Club in Virginia for their final tune-up before conference championship week, set to compete in the Premier Golf Tournaments Melee on Oct. 18-19.
