SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball drops its contest on Wednesday night to No. 8 Christopher Newport 77-49 inside Maggs Physical Activities Center.
The Sea Gulls (10-12) got on the board from a
Leon Elung layup one minute into the affair.
Aidan Camper made a mid-range jumper five minutes later to make it 11-8 Captains with 14 minutes to go in the first half.
The Captains (19-3) scored the next 15 points of the contest throughout the next 4 minutes of play. With 2 seconds remaining, Collin Hines put down a tip-in slam to give the visitors a 41-16 advantage heading into the break.
Salisbury got two straight buckets from Elung to start the second stanza.
Tyler Ball found
Patrick Wynne from distance with 13 minutes remaining to make it 55-28 CNU.
Wynne picked up another three later on in the session, however Christopher Newport cruised to a comfortable road victory.
GAME NOTES
- Elung led the Sea Gulls with 12 points and ten rebounds to record his second double-double of the season.
- Jamison Graves added eight points for SU
- Salisbury shot 31.7 percent (20-63) from the field, 11.8 percent (2-17) from beyond the arc and 58.3 percent (7-12) from the charity stripe.
The Sea Gulls head to Fredericksburg, Va. to battle with No. 11 Mary Washington on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
