Big Apple Invitational Meet Notes
- Kai Smith posted two program records on the day. One in the 60-meter with a time of 6.74, and the second in the 200-meter with a time of 21.18. Both were good enough to earn gold and set meet records.
- Marlyse Haack broke the triple jump school record at 11.46 meters (37-7.25), which placed her second. She also placed sixth in the long jump at 5.18 meters (17-0.00).
- Anna Bodmer struck gold in the 3000-meter run for a program record and C2C record time of 10:04.97.
- Haack, Karia Forvil, Jenna Howe, and Emma Smyser struck gold in the 4x400 relay with a program record 4:01.75. The men's 4x400 relay team of Andrew Osler, Samuel Bradley, Hayden Myers, and Isaiah Rivera also struck gold with a time of 3:22.08.
- Cormac Moroney earned gold in the mile run with a time of 4:18.75.
- Justin Freeman struck gold in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.06.
Last C2C Indoor Championships rundown
- The Salisbury University track and field men's team earned second place while the women placed third at the Coast-to-Coast Indoor Conference Championships inside the Freeman Center on the campus of Christopher Newport University.
- The Sea Gull men closed the competition with 141 points, good for second place behind meet winner UC Santa Cruz (154) and ahead of third place and host CNU (135). The Sea Gull women finished in third with 117 points, trailing meet winner CNU (165) and second place UC Santa Cruz (158). SU saw two records fall this weekend with multiple student-athletes earning podium finishes heading back to Salisbury with hardware.
- The Sea Gull men also snagged gold in the 4x400 relay with the team of Isaiah Rivera, Hayden Myers, Dominic Roddy, and Kai Smith with a time of 3:22.94.
Gavin Shaffer struck gold in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.22. Andrew Moxley placed 4th with a time of 9.08 while Jeremy Linden earned 6th with a time of 9.61. - Kai Smith also struck gold in the 400-meter run with a time of 49.55. Dominic Roddy and Hayden Myers earned 4th and 5th with times of 50.68 and 50.78. Smith went on to place 2nd in the 200-meter with a time of 22.19.
- The Sea Gulls wrapped up the day earning gold in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:08.88 from the team of Lilly Williams, Marlyse Haack, Karia Forvil, and Emma Smyser.
- Smyser grabbed gold in the pole vault at 3.19 meters (10-05.50) while also earning a podium finish in the 400-meter with a time of 1:00.36 which was good enough for third place.
- SU placed two in the top three of the triple jump with Emma Christman taking second place with a jump of 11.11 meters (36-05.50) which places 64th nationally. Marlyse Haack earned third place with a jump of 10.86 meters (35-07.75). Christman also earned SU points in the 60-meter dash with a 6th-place finish and a time of 8.23.
- The Sea Gulls dominated the long jump. Mia Hill broke the school record, earning 1st place with a jump of 5.48 meters (17-11.75), which ranked 41st nationally. Emma Christman and Marlyse Haack earned 3rd and 4th, respectively. Christman posted a jump of 5.19 meters (17-00.50), with Haack just behind at 5.18 meters (17-00.00).
- In the distance medley relay, the team of Leah Snyder, Lilly Williams, Peri Nelson, and Anna Bodmer set a school record with a time of 12:41.62 earning second place ranking 30th nationally.
- In the high jump, the Sea Gulls took first place, with Jadon Gaines posting a jump of 2.00 meters (6-06.75), which placed 25th nationally. Ryan Gorman earned fourth place with a jump of 1.75 meters (5-08.75).
