Women's Basketball rolls past Regent in C2C Quarterfinals

SALISBURY, Md. - The Salisbury University women's basketball program soared past Regent University 108-37 Thursday night inside Maggs Gymnasium during the Coast-to-Coast Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. The Sea Gulls posted a program record 15 three pointers on the night, posting a 44 percent mark from downtown. 

Regent (5-19) shot out the gates hot, earning a 9-2 early lead. Salisbury (16-10) weathered the storm and finished the first quarter on a 17-4 run, earning a 19-13 advantage. The Sea Gulls shot 50 percent from the floor in the first quarter but only went one of seven from three-point range. 

The heat was turned up in the second quarter from SU, shooting 90 percent from downtown, hitting nine of 10 three-pointers. This helped the Sea Gulls outscore the Royals 42-11 in the second quarter. Nicole Miller powered the Sea Gulls with 22 first half points. The C2C Scholar Athlete of the Year finished with a game-high 26 points, shooting 11-14 from the field and three of five from deep. 

The Salisbury defense did not let up in the second half, holding Regent to just 13 points in the half. SU outscored the Royals 25-6 in the third, and 22-7 in the fourth. Ella Inacio posted a career-high in points with 16, while also posting a career-high six assists. Inacio shot six-seven from the field and perfect from three-point range on three attempts. 

The Sea Gull freshman shined in their first C2C Tournament, Samantha Shively posted 15 points and four rebounds, Faith Re tallied 11 points and four assists, Sayuri Penaranda scored eight points with two rebounds and two assists, while Evelyn Steele grabbed six rebounds and added two points.

Game Notes
- Kisa Lilly added nine points, four assists, four rebounds, and three steals. 
- The Sea Gulls finished the game shooting 54 percent from the floor, while holding the Royals to just 24 percent from the floor. 
- Salisbury out rebounded Regent 50-31.
- The Sea Gulls grabbed 20 steals and forced 25 turnovers. SU scored 38 points off turnovers. 

The Sea Gulls are right back in action tomorrow in the C2C Semifinals at 5:30 with a battle against JWU from Maggs Gymnasium.
