SALISBURY, Md. – The second-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team's 45-game home winning streak was snapped with a 14-11 loss on Saturday to the tenth-ranked University of Lynchburg Hornets.
The Hornets (3-0) led 3-2 after the first frame.
Preston Huffman started the scoring in the affair.
Riley Strub made it 2-1 minutes later; however, Will Rubley netted back-to-back tallies to give the visitors the lead.
Each side found the back of the net three times in the second stanza. After two Lynchburg scores, the Sea Gulls (4-1) potted three of the next four goals. Huffman found
Connor Herraiz, then Herraiz connected with
Ryan Della, and
Trent Lucovich found
Chris Wong to make it 6-5 headed into the breather.
Scoring in the third quarter went the same as in the second. Della brought the game to a deadlock, Strub gave SU the lead at 7-6. After a Lynchburg goal,
Tristan Plotts regained the advantage for the Gulls. Lynchburg got the final two tallies of the segment to take a lead into the final 15 minutes.
Trailing 12-8, Huffman and Lucovich scored 27 seconds apart to make it 12-10. Lucovich struck pay dirt again after
Evan Huffman fed him on a fastbreak. The Hornets would ultimately ice the game with two scores in the final minute.

The Sea Gulls host their One Love Game on Saturday, March 7, at 3 p.m. against No. 7 York inside Sea Gull Stadium.
