SALISBURY, Md. – The fifth-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse blanked the sixth-ranked York College of Pennsylvania Spartans in the fourth quarter to hammer down a 10-7 victory on Saturday afternoon in SU's One Love Game inside Sea Gull Stadium.
A low-scoring opening quarter saw the Spartans (3-1) lead 2-1 after the first frame.
Riley Strub started the contest with a man-up goal, but Davis Fisher and Nate Schilling responded to give the visitors the advantage.
With a 4-3 second segment, the Sea Gulls (5-1) went into the break tied with York (Pa.) 5-5.
Trent Lucovich,
Chris Wong and
Connor Herraiz found the back of the cage in a 1:53 span of action.
Ryan Della added to the lead before the Spartans closed out the segment with two tallies to knot the score.
Goals from
Preston Huffman and Herraiz, 28 seconds apart, put SU back in the driver's seat before Wong added to the lead. After the Spartans got within one,
Blake Malamphy found Lucovich off a face-off win to give the Gulls breathing room heading into the final segment.
Wong's third of the day from Herraiz on the man-up gave SU more insurance. The defensive unit allowed three shots and forced four turnovers to pitch a shutout and close out the victory.
