TOWSON, Md. - The No. 2 Salisbury University men's lacrosse program picked up a 24-9 neutral site win over Grove City College Friday afternoon on the campus of Calvert Hall College High School inside Russo Stadium.
The Sea Gulls (2-0) blitzed the Wolverines (0-1) in the first quarter of action, 7-2 to earn an early advantage. SU tallied 10 shots on goal out of 14, while Grove City only posted six total shots. Two of the Salisbury goals were on the man-up chances;
Chris Wong and
Michael Leahy were the beneficiaries with assists from
Connor Herraiz and
Riley Strub.
Salisbury kept the momentum rolling in the second quarter, outscoring Grove City 6-1 and heading into the halftime break with a 13-3 lead.
Preston Huffman found the back of the cage for a goal after earning an assist on an around-the-world goal from Leahy. SU outshot Grove City 20-3 in the quarter.
The Maroon and Gold kept the pedal to the metal in the third stanza by outpacing the Wolverines 7-3. Strub sandwiched a
Joe Buxbaum tally, and Herraiz dished out two more helpers and a marker assisted by Buxbaum to make it 20-6.
The Gulls held steady in the fourth frame by winning the final 15 minutes 4-3.
Tristan Plotts netted a pair of goals, while Strub and Huffman added the icing on the cake with markers.

The Sea Gulls are back in action on the road against the University of Scranton on Saturday at 1 p.m.
