MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team was unable to complete a come-from-behind win on Saturday against Penn St. Harrisburg, falling 75-70 on the road inside Capital Union Building.
The Sea Gulls (10-11) got their first points of the contest from
Churchill Bounds, who received a feed from
Jamison Graves to bank home a layup. Bounds added a free throw later on in the frame to make the score 7-3 in favor of the Nittany Lions (15-9). The Gulls swooped in to even the score at seven after buckets from
Elijah Carroll and
Patrick Wynne.
Salisbury got in front by outpacing Penn St. Harrisburg 11-5 in the following minutes.
Joey Lutz connected from distance to get the visitors ahead for the first time with just over 12 minutes remaining in the first stanza, and Carroll converted a three-point play and added two more makes from the charity stripe to give the Maroon and Gold an 18-12 advantage.
The Nittany Lions used a 12-2 run over six minutes of action to take back a 25-20 lead. Lutz knocked down another three, but Isaiah Milien scored five of the final seven points of the half, giving the Nittany Lions a 37-29 edge at the break.
Penn St. Harrisburg's momentum rolled over into the start of the second session. The Nittany Lions extended the margin to 17 before
Aidan Camper delivered from deep to cut it to 56-42.
The Sea Gulls shot 7-10 in the next seven and a half minutes of play to cut the deficit to one. Carroll and
Daniel Oyediran combined for 17 points during a 23-7 run in favor of the Gulls, as the visitors caused five turnovers during the stretch to get within a possession.
Milien and Chris Henderson made jumpers with under two minutes to play, extinguishing Salisbury's comeback bid.

The Sea Gulls host their home finale on Wednesday against No. 12 Christopher Newport inside Maggs Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
