SALISBURY, Md. – A 6-0 and fourth quarter and 8-2 second half lifted the fifth-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team over the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears 16-7 inside Sea Gull Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Polar Bears (3-4) led 3-2 after one quarter of play.
Connor Herraiz and
Tristan Plotts got the Sea Gulls (6-1) on the board, but Ohio Northern got in front at the 3:31 mark from Nathan Flynn.
After staying on top 5-4, SU broke out for the next four tallies of the contest. Herraiz,
Trent Lucovich,
Chris Wong,
Brayden Velasquez and two goals from
Ryan Della back-to-back gave the Gulls a 6-2 advantage in the second stanza to take an 8-5 edge at the half.
Both sides traded two goals each in the following frame. Wong and Velasquez found the back of the cage 45 seconds apart in between goals from ONU's Cooper Mulligan and Nathan Flynn.
A flawless fourth segment let the Maroon and Gold run away with a nine-goal win. Della, Lucovich, Plotts,
Preston Huffman and a pair from Herraiz gave Salisbury plenty of cushion to prevail under the lights.
