SALISBURY, Md. – The fifth-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team fell to the Williams College Ephs on Tuesday afternoon, 14-10, inside Sea Gull Stadium, snapping a four-game winning streak.
After the Sea Gulls (8-2) went ahead 2-0 via goals from
Ryan Della and
Riley Strub, the Ephs (5-3, 2-2 NESCAC) evened the score at two apiece.
Chris Wong gave the Gulls a 3-2 nod, but Williams closed out the quarter by finding the back of the cage three straight times to lead 5-3.
The Maroon and Gold inched within one going into halftime after outscoring the Ephs 2-1 in the second stanza. Della found twine in the early parts of the frame, and
Trent Lucovich recovered a rebound and buried the following try to make it 6-5 at halftime.
Williams broke through with four tallies in each segment of the second half, while the Sea Gulls connected twice in the third session and three times in the fourth.
Connor Herraiz and
Michael Leahy struck twice each, while Della completed his hat-trick.
GAME NOTES
- Ryan Della and Connor Herraiz each recorded four points to lead the squad. Della scored three goals and added an assist, Herraiz found paydirt twice and dished out two helpers.
- Michael Leahy stuck two of his shot attempts on the afternoon.
- Bryce Stevenson created a season-high four turnovers and scooped up three grounders.
- Blake Malamphy went 14-26 from the dot and collected seven ground balls.
- Matt Sentowski made 12 stops and was tabbed with the loss in the cage.
- The Sea Gulls outshot the Ephs 42-30, went 21-of-22 on clear attempts, and went 0-for-1 on extra man opportunities
The Sea Gulls host their annual Lax for Leukemia game on Saturday at noon when they take on Trinity (Conn.) inside Sea Gull Stadium.
