SALISBURY, Md. – Presenting Roadie Joes Rankings for the first Wednesday in April, featuring the first NCAA Power Index (NPI) metrics for women's and men's lacrosse as well as the latest coaches' rolls for baseball and men's track & field.
Women's Lacrosse – 1st | Division III Women's Lacrosse NPI, Mar. 29
Salisbury leads the national field with 72.832 NPI points, nearly four points clear of second-ranked Amherst (69.009) and four clear of third-ranked Middlebury (68.773). SU adds the top-ranked metric to another No. 2 and No. 4 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine and IWLCA polls, respectively.
The Sea Gulls put together another impressive week, topping No. 22 Williams 12-7 at home on Monday and following it up with a furious fourth-quarter comeback to dispatch No. 7 York (Pa.) 14-10 at home on Saturday.
Miranda Mears and
Paige Ellis' performances earned the two of them a sweep of the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week.
SU is on the road for the next three games, starting Wednesday with a visit to Neumann at 4 p.m. and continuing with Mary Washington on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Salisbury dipped from seventh to ninth with 406 points, sandwiched between No. 8 UW-Whitewater (412) and No. 10 Bridgewater (Va.) [388].
The Sea Gulls went 3-1 over the previous week, walking off Gwynedd Mercy at home on Tuesday and trouncing Ursinus and Stockton on mercy rule over the next two days before bowing at Mary Washington on Saturday. Freshman outfielder
Nathan Tondreault continued to impress at the plate, homering twice and driving in seven runs while scoring six of his own.
SU kicked off the new week with a 10-2 dub over Marymount (Va.) on Tuesday before calling on Widener on Wednesday and returning home to joust with C2C rival and 16th-ranked Christopher Newport on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Men's Lacrosse – 9th | Division III Men's Lacrosse NPI, Mar. 29
Salisbury carried top-10 credentials in the first NPI of the year with 68.090 points, taking the spot between No. 8 St. John Fisher (68.753) and No. 10 Middlebury (67.446). SU is also ranked seventh in both this week's USILA and USA Lacrosse Magazine rankings.
The Sea Gulls bounced back from a tough 14-10 defeat against Williams on Tuesday to smother Trinity (Conn.) 11-5 on Saturday.
Trent Lucovich scored five of SU's tallies in the Trinity game, while
Matt Sentowski registered 12 saves over all 60 minutes in the cage.
SU begins Coastal Lacrosse Conference (CLC) play at home against Stockton on Wednesday at 4 p.m., followed by a home bout with Mary Washington on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Men's Track & Field – 24th | USTFCCCA Outdoor Track & Field Rating Index, Mar. 31
Salisbury boasted 95.18 points in the coaches' metrics, landing between No. 23 Texas Lutheran (107.71) and No. 25 Chicago (93.08). SU was the only C2C team in the top 25.
The shorthanded Sea Gulls put up strong performances at the CNU Blue & Silver Challenge on Saturday, headlined by C2C Athlete of the Week
Kai Smith, who won the 100 meters and 200 meters with times that put him near the top of the national table in each event.
Gavin Shaffer also won the 110 hurdles with a top-five mark, and
Logan Kelsch claimed victory in the discus throw.
SU will make it back-to-back weekends in action at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational on the campus of Division I George Mason University on Friday and Saturday.
