SALISBURY, Md. – Setter
Beitris Boyreau-Millar of the Salisbury University volleyball team is primed to study at King's College London this summer as the Sea Gulls'
latest recipient of the prestigious Fulbright UK Summer Institute Award, as announced by a university press release earlier this week.
Boyreau-Millar (R-Fr. – Mt. Joy, Pa.), a Public Health major, will enroll in two classes at the centuries-old institution over the summer, furthering her study of healthcare availability and affordability in rural areas. The Fulbright scholarship program, sponsored directly by the U.S. State Department, is widely seen as the flagship American international exchange program.
"At SU, I'm learning about healthcare systems and how to make them more accessible and equitable for people," said Boyreau-Millar in part via the university's Tuesday release. "[SU] has given me a very well-rounded experience learning the difference pieces that fall into public health, especially how to communicate with different groups, which is really important in healthcare.
"I want to take advantage of everything London has to offer. I'm open to whatever experiences come my way."
One of Salisbury volleyball's under-the-radar leaders, Boyreau-Millar played in two matches this past season while battling injuries that sidelined her in 2024. On Nov. 21 she made the start as an emergency setter for the Sea Gulls in their NCAA Tournament second-round matchup with Trinity (Texas), contributing 17 assists and two digs.
Boyreau-Millar will be the second Sea Gull volleyball player to represent SU abroad this summer after
Gwen Eustace was
selected for the AVCA Ambassador Tour to Tanzania and Kenya.
