Women’s Golf captures E’Town Spring crown

Sea Gulls win first-ever team title by 61 strokes

HERSHEY, Pa. – Less than a week after the Sea Gull men got over the hump, the Salisbury University women's golf team followed suit by capturing its first-ever tournament title, rolling through the competition at the Elizabethtown Spring Invitational on Thursday afternoon at Hershey Country Club.

The Sea Gulls carded a 79-over 363 on the par-71 course, keeping steady through the hazy early spring conditions to stand tall above the field of eight teams, only five of whom finished the full 18 holes. Second-place Juniata (424) was a distant 61 strokes back.

ROUND NOTES
  • Krista Brosius tied with Lebanon Valley's Jillian Fidler atop the leaderboard of 33 individuals, shooting a 13-over 84 on the afternoon that sat five strokes better than everyone else. Fidler ultimately won a two-hole tiebreaker on the par-three 16th hole to claim the individual crown.
  • Victoria Heid posted the second-best score through the rest of the field, finishing in third by herself with an 18-over 89.
  • Sydney Lynott carded a 22-over 93 to tie for sixth, and Emma Wivell made it four Gulls in the top 10 by shooting a 26-over 97 to take ninth.
  • Cailin McCoy posted the SU drop score with a 41-over 112, tying for 20th.

The Sea Gulls will play one more single-round tournament on Monday by sending a party to the Stevenson Invitational at Piney Branch Golf Club in Upperco, Md.
