SALISBURY, Md. – Eight Salisbury University student-athletes secured Jersey Mike's A Sub Above Player of the Week hardware via weekly nods from the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) and Coastal Lacrosse Conference (CLC).
Women's lacrosse got another C2C sweep from
Grace Doyle and
Paige Ellis, as did men's track & field via
Kai Smith and
Logan Kelsch, as well as baseball's
Jackson Inman and
Aidan Brinsfield. Softball's
Audrey March secured her second straight C2C prize, and men's lacrosse's
Matt Sentowski made it a second CLC nod this season.
Grace Doyle | C2C Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week | Second Career (First This Season)
Doyle (Sr. – York, Pa.) tied a career high with four goals on five shots, leading the Sea Gulls to a 19-5 win over No. 21 Christopher Newport. She nailed two free position tallies in the fourth quarter to clinch for SU a 16-0 regular season and homefield advantage in this week's C2C Championship.
Paige Ellis | C2C Defensive Player of the Week | Fourth Career (Second This Season)
Ellis (Sr. – Fairfax, Va.) made a season-high 11 saves to help thwart CNU 15-9 and finish off the Sea Gulls' undefeated regular season. Ellis' 7.45 goals against average currently leads the C2C by nearly three goals and ranks 21st in the nation.
Kai Smith | C2C Men's Track Athlete of the Week | Twelfth Career (Fifth This Season)
Smith (Sr. – Upper Marlboro, Md.) once again broke a school and conference record in the 100-meter dash at 10.35 seconds at the storied Penn Relays over the weekend. Smith placed 13th overall and tops among non-Division I runners at the historic meet at Penn's Franklin Field, and his time is currently tied for sixth in the event in Division III.
Logan Kelsch | C2C Men's Field Athlete of the Week | Fifth Career (First This Season)
Kelsch (Sr. – Fenwick Island, Del.) placed 11th in the discus throw at the Penn Relays, tallying a mark of 49.44 meters (162-2). Kelsch's distance was just 14 hundredths off his season-long; he currently ranks 30th nationally in the discus throw.
Jackson Inman | C2C Baseball Player of the Week | Third Career (Second This Season)
Inman (So. – Damascus, Md.) posted a staggering 1.953 OPS for the week, slashing .615/.722/1.231 with two doubles, two homers, three steals, nine runs, and 11 RBIs to help the Sea Gulls go 4-0. On Tuesday against York (Pa.) he doubled twice and drove in four runs, then on Wednesday against St. Mary's (Md.) he went yard and plated five, following it up with another dinger in Thursday's road win at Penn State Harrisburg.
Aidan Brinsfield | C2C Baseball Pitcher of the Week | Fifth Career (Third This Season)
Brinsfield [Jr. – Salisbury, Md. (Parkside)] dominated No. 13 CNU on Saturday, going seven innings and giving up just one run on six hits with two walks and eight strikeouts over 114 pitches. Brinsfield's heroics earned him his seventh win of the season and his team a 2-1 road dub.
Audrey March | C2C Softball Player of the Week | Second Career (Second This Season)
March (Fr. – Bel Air, Md.) batted .500 with a 1.000 slugging percentage over six games, belting two doubles and two home runs with 11 RBIs as the Sea Gulls went 4-2 for the week. She saved her best moments for the back ends of Saturday and Sunday doubleheaders. On Saturday against Ursinus she doubled and homered while plating three runs; on Sunday against York she went yard again and picked up five rib-eyes.
Matt Sentowski | CLC Defensive Player of the Week | Second Career (Second This Season)
Sentowski (Jr. – Mountain Lakes, N.J.) made 16 saves over 105 minutes in the cage to help the Sea Gulls bounce Baldwin Wallace and Washington College over the past week. On Tuesday against BW he registered six saves over the first three quarters of SU's 22-11 victory. Then on Friday in the annual "War on the Shore" rivalry, Sentowski kept 10 Shoremen attempts out of the back of the net, giving up just four goals and helping Salisbury win the series' lowest-scoring game 6-4.
