ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's soccer program extended its winning streak to three with a dominating 3-0 victory against the Lehman College Lightning on Saturday evening inside Jaime L. Roberts Stadium on the campus of St. Mary's College of Maryland.
The Sea Gulls (3-0-1) owned 10 of the first 14 shots of the affair, before
Yasseen Mohamed skied a cross to the top of the box for
Kai Lindsay, who struck in a right-footed blast to get SU on the board. Salisbury kept the pressure up, rattling off the next four shots to round out the session.
The Maroon and Gold flood continued after the break.
Zach Johnson lofted a feed in tight onto the acrobatic leaping head of
Liam Pierce to double the SU lead. After pairing up for the first goal, Mohamed found the onion bag, courtesy of Lindsay, to salt the match. The Sea Gulls end the day outshooting the Lightning (0-1-1) 34-5.
GAME NOTES
- Kai Lindsay and Yasseen Mohamed each scored their first career goals and tallied a score and a helper each.
- Liam Pierce found nylon for the third consecutive match.
- Zach Johnson registered his third assist in the last two games.
- Nate Jones and the defensive group notched their third straight shutout. The Sea Gulls are outscoring opponents 12-1 in the first four matches of the season, with the only goal allowed coming from an own goal.
The Sea Gulls will lock horns with Baruch tomorrow at 1 p.m. to conclude the Seahawk Classic.
