Women’s Soccer stumbles against John Carroll in SU Classic finale

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team fell to the John Carroll University Blue Streaks 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in the last fixture of the Salisbury University Classic at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex.

The Sea Gulls (0-4-1) earned a high-quality chance from Brooke Spadin in the eighth minute that was turned aside by Madison Skeese of the Blue Streaks (2-2-1). John Carroll's first chance of the outing was stopped by Aley Martins roughly eight minutes later. Martins recorded a pair of saves during the rest of the segment to keep the match scoreless.

A 55th-minute strike from Brooke Berkowitz gave JCU the lead. The Blue Streaks would give themselves a cushion after they hit paydirt in the 74th minute. Ava Wheeler lasered a shot looking to trim the deficit minutes later, but Skeese punched her bid over the net, and Audrey Kregelka attempted SU's final attempt of the afternoon, which was kept out by Skeese.

GAME NOTES The Sea Gulls travel to Virginia Beach, Virginia, to battle Batten University. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
