HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University women's golf team battled adverse weather to ultimately secure a podium position after day two of the Bridgewater Invitational on Tuesday at Lakeview Golf Course.
The Sea Gulls carded a 41-over 333 on the day, finishing the two-round tournament at a 72-over 656 to take the bronze medal convincingly over fourth-place Bridgewater (698). Southern Virginia (631) edged out Marymount (Va.) [633] for the team title among the field of 10 sides.
ROUND NOTES
- Stella Jaffe took fourth place on the individual leaderboard of 57, shooting a seven-over 80 on the day to finish at eight-over 154 for the tourney that was just three strokes back of the winner. The mark breaks Jaffe's own record (155) for the lowest score in Sea Gull history, which she established less than two weeks ago at the Shenandoah Chinatown Invitational.
- Sydney Lynott narrowly missed a top-10 finish, shaving two strokes off her Monday card and matching Jaffe with a seven-over 80 for the round. Lynott tied with three others for 11th individually after racking up a 16-over 162.
- Krista Brosius carded a 12-over 85 and landed 16th overall with a 21-over 167.
- Ava Kelly tied for 19th after posting a 15-over 88 and accumulating a 27-over 173 over her two rounds.
- Kaeli Newcomb matched her Monday line with a 28-over 101. Her 56-over 202 was good for 44th individually.
The Sea Gulls will turn the calendar over with the Alvernia Fall Invitational, set for Oct. 5-6 at Bulle Rock Golf Club in Havre de Grace, Md.
