YORK, Pa. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team fell to the York College of Pennsylvania Spartans 2-0 on Wednesday evening at Graham Field.
Each team put a shot on goal in the opening stages of the contest, as Meg Kalthof of the Spartans (5-2-1) was stopped on a header by
Riley Kinzeler.
Brooke Spadin registered the early chance for the Sea Gulls (0-7-1) and was turned down by York keeper Gracie Leatherly.
Kinzeler anchored SU defensively by making three saves in the following minutes. The Sea Gull keeper's third rejection in the sequence saw her deny Meg Kalthof from the top of the box to keep the battle scoreless.
York broke through right before the end of the first half courtesy of a tally from Addyson Krug in the 44th minute.
The Spartans added onto their lead in the 60th minute and held on to the shutout victory.
Bailey Knotts came close to getting the Sea Gulls on the board but hit the post on Salisbury's last shot with under two minutes remaining.
