SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury women's soccer team rattled off four unanswered goals, with three coming from
Brooke Spadin to earn its first win of the year on Saturday afternoon in a 4-1 outing against the Hood College Blazers inside the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex.
The Sea Gulls (1-7-1) created the first prime opportunity of the match to break the ice in the 10th minute when
Skylar Williams hit the left post, then
Audrey Kregelka missed wide from inside the box. The Blazers (2-6-0) would get on the board minutes later courtesy of a free kick by McKenna Bishop.
Salisbury came up with a rebuttal four minutes later. Williams led Spadin into the box with a pass; After making a move, Spadin blasted in the equalizer for the Maroon and Gold.
Talyn Catena won a battle at the top of the box 10 minutes later and located Spadin for her second marker of the match and a 2-1 SU lead.
The Gulls kept knocking on the door.
Bailey Knotts sent in a right-footed strike that was punched away in the 32nd minute. Salisbury led 13-4 in shots at halftime.
Spadin put up her third of the afternoon after
Audrey Kregelka sent a long feed ahead that Spadin booted towards the goal that evaded the Hood keeper and Catena to make it 3-1.
The Maroon and Gold wrapped up the offensive outbreak courtesy of
Lauren Chesney, finding
Callie Chesney for a shot that was saved, but
Samantha Root took care of the rebound and placed the following shot into the onion bag.
