SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's soccer team made it two wins in a row, using two first-half tallies to gallop past the Stevenson Mustangs, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex.
The Sea Gulls controlled the pace from the get-go and finally broke through in the 20th minute.
Lauren Chesney stole the ball in the defensive third and weaved her way through a plethora of Mustang defenders, eventually camping at the top left of the box and blasting a shot past the keeper to the near post to put the home side up 1-0.
Salisbury doubled its lead in the 34th minute as
Brooke Spadin found an open
Callie Chesney on the right seam. Chesney then delivered a low cross to the left box, where a waiting
Ava Wheeler booted it in near post to put the Sea Gulls comfortably up 2-0.
The home side clamped down from there and never gave Stevenson a serious chance at getting back into it on the way to securing their first clean sheet victory of the year.
