FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Four members of the Salisbury University women's tennis team dusted off their tournament chops at the annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Southeast Regional Championship, hosted by the University of Mary Washington this past weekend.
Gibelle Beaujon and
Cleo Solomon advanced to the round of 16 in the open doubles championship flight, dispatching Lily Ganjbaksh and Katherine Yao of St. Mary's (Md.) 8-2 in the round of 64 before taking down UMW's Madeleine Holman and Rita Taylor 8-2 in the round of 32. Beaujon and Solomon were eventually bested by Rachel Li and Shelly Zinchenko, pushing the Carnegie Mellon duo to an 8-6 decision.
Beaujon also advanced in the open singles championship flight, taking down Washington & Lee's Greer Webb 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 in the round of 64 before dropping a 6-3, 6-1 decision to CMU's Ahnoa Chowdhury. Solomon bowed out of singles after a match each in the championship and consolation flights.
Ridgley Lake won the first match of singles play in her flight, outlasting UMW's Taylor 6-5 after an injury, before falling to Eden Levkov of Gettysburg. Lake and
Katherine Raab also competed together in a pair of doubles tilts.
The Sea Gulls will now turn their attention to the spring 2027 championship season, which will begin in February at a time and place to be announced at a later date.
