SALISBURY, Md. - The top-ranked Salisbury
University men's lacrosse team is now a perfect 82-0 all-time in
Capital Athletic Conference contests since joining the conference
in 1995. The Sea Gulls defeated Goucher College 19-4 before 275 at
Sea Gull Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Salisbury (4-0, 3-0 CAC) outscored Goucher 10-1 in the second
half to break open a game that the Sea Gulls led 9-3 at the half.
Junior attackman Matt Hickman led all-scorers
with five goals and two assists for a game best seven points.
Seniors Eric Bishop and Matt
Dasinger both scored three goals apiece and dished out one
assist in the win.
Hickman cored the game's first two goals before Goucher answered
with an even strength goal and a man-up goal to tie the game at
two. SU scored the next six goals before the two teams traded
unassisted goals before the half.
Goucher goalie Austin Main made 17 saves in goal for the Gophers
as SU outshot GC 49-15. Gopher junior Jerod Richardson was a force
on faceoffs as he won 16-of-27 attempts. The Sea Gulls forced 40
turnovers and scooped up 46 groundballs. SU was also 28-for-29 on
clears.
The Sea Gulls have now won 51 consecutive regular-season games
and 46 straight home games. Those streaks will be on the line this
Sunday, March 4, when Salisbury hosts No. 3 Roanoke College at 1
p.m.
