Box Score SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 3 Salisbury University
women's lacrosse team picked up its second straight Capital
Athletic Conference (CAC) victory in two days with an 18-11 win
over Stevenson University on a frigid Sunday afternoon at Sea Gull
Stadium. Salisbury (5-0, 3-0 CAC) has now won 52 consecutive
conference games and 31 straight at home.
The Sea Gulls were led by senior midfielder Robyn
Bishop's team-high six points on four goals and two
assists. Salisbury had two five-point performances by seniors
Jessica Chmielewski (three goals, two assists) and
junior Kim Cudmore (two goals, three assists).
Sophomore attacker Logan Bilderback scored a trio
of goals today and tacked on an assist of her own to give her 14
points on the season. Salisbury received other multiple point
performances from Trish DiGirolomo (two goals, one
assist), Beth Rhodey (two goals) and
Alyssa Fowler (one goal, one assist). SU received
one goal from Sarah Clemmens and seniors
Ashleigh Gender and Courtney
Sorenson each contributed one assist.
Salisbury scored just three minutes into the contest off a goal
from Bishop assisted by Cudmore. The Gulls would score the next two
goals to take an early 3-0 lead before the Mustangs (2-1, 2-1 CAC)
scored on a free-position goal by Lauren Zegowitz (two goals).
Salisbury would score 11 of the next 12 goals to go into halftime
up 14-2.
In the second half, the Mustangs outscored the Sea Gulls 9-4
capped off by a pair of goals by Lisa Baker and Kristyna Hnizda.
Stevenson scored five unanswered goals to end the second half.
Senior goalie Sonja Stuart (three saves)
recorded her fourth victory of the season as she logged 43 minutes
in goal for SU before sophomore Julie Ann
Caulfield finished out the game. Stevenson goalie Jenny
Schroeder (11 saves) earned the loss as she played 58 minutes while
teammate Devan Malone recorded one stop in two minutes of action.
Salisbury will travel to Washington, D.C., on Sunday, March 8,
to face No. 13 Catholic University of America (1-1) at 3 p.m.
The Gulls defeated Catholic twice last season, including an 18-7
win in the NCAA Regional championship that sent the Gulls to the
final four.
