Salisbury suffers tough loss to Mary Washington in CAC championship

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team suffered a tough 9-0 loss to the University of Mary Washington in the Capital Athletic Conference championship match on Friday afternoon.

With the win, Mary Washington earns its eighth-straight conference title; the Sea Gulls have squared off in the title match against the Eagles for the past four years, finishing as CAC tournament runner-up each time.

The contest marked the end of the careers of seniors Angela Tenaglia and Amy Matonak; Tenaglia, a four-year member of the squad, leaves her mark on the Sea Gull tennis program with the best singles career record by percentage (89.3%). Matonak, who wore maroon and gold for the first time in the 2011 season, wrapped up her career as a Sea Gull with a 5-1 singles record and 5-0 doubles record.
