SALISBURY, Md. – The No. 2 Salisbury University women's lacrosse team picked up its first shutout of the season as it defeated Elizabethtown (Pa.) College, 15-0, Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium.

The offensive unit proved to be the Sea Gulls' best defender, keeping control of the ball for the majority of the game and when the Blue Jays did advance the ball into their offensive third of the field, they were turned away by the Salisbury (6-0) defense. Sophomore Ashton Wheatley faced little pressure, as she had to make only one save during the 41:20 she saw in action. Classmate Hannah Whiteley relieved her and stopped a career-high seven Elizabethtown (3-3) shots to finish off the shutout. The last shutout posted by Salisbury was at home against Marymount (Va.) University on April 6, 2011, as the Sea Gulls blanked the Saints, 19-0.

Supporting the stellar defensive effort was the stout Salisbury offense, led by junior Katie Bollhorst. The Severna Park, Md., attacker matched her career-high with eight points in the contest, netting four goals (which also matched a career-high) and dishing out four assists. The eight-point game gives Bollhorst a team-high 34 points so far this year, good for third overall in the Capital Athletic Conference, and her 21 assists leads all CAC players.

Junior Lauren Feusahrens added a pair of goals for the Sea Gulls, as did senior Alyssa Fowler. Senior Allie Wheatley netted two goals in the contest as well, giving her a team-high 21 on the year, which is good for fourth in the conference. Her first goal came just 1:09 into the contest and the Sea Gulls never looked back.

Salisbury controlled the Blue Jays both statistically and on the scoreboard in the first half. The Sea Gulls outshot Elizabethtown 23-2, picked up 12 more ground balls and won three more draw controls in the first 30 minutes of play. Seven different Sea Gulls scored in the first half  and Salisbury went into the break up 10-0. With the game under control, Head Coach Jim Nestor was able to give valuable playing time to his underclassmen in the second half, as nearly every Sea Gull in uniform logged playing time in the victory.

The Sea Gulls embark on their spring break trip, facing off next against No. 5 Bowdoin College in Clermont, Fla., on Tuesday, March 20, at 2 p.m. Salisbury returns home on Sunday, March 25 to take on No. 8 Franklin & Marshall College, also at 2 p.m.
