ARLINGTON, Va. - The No. 3 Salisbury University men's lacrosse team finished out the Capital Athletic Conference portion of its regular-season schedule with a 15-3 victory over Marymount (Va.) University on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior attackman Rhett DePol registered nine points to lead the Sea Gulls with five goals and four assists in the contest.

DePol had a hand in five of Salisbury's first six goals, first assisting senior midfielder Donovan Lange to open the scoring just over one minute into the first quarter. The Chester, Md., native followed with two-consecutive goals of his own to put the Gulls ahead, 3-0.

Sophomore midfielder Thomas Cirillo took a pass from DePol to net his first score at the 6:28 mark of the quarter, before senior attackman Luke Phipps would feed junior attackman Mike Kane with 52 seconds left in the first.

Phipps finished the game second on the team with four points (two goals and two assists), and Kane netted a hat trick on the day.

The second quarter opened with two-straight scores for Phipps, with the first coming off an assist from DePol.

Kane followed with his second, before junior attackman Jesse Rabishaw and freshman attackman Carson Kalama closed the half with the final two scores, giving SU a 10-0 lead at halftime.

The Sea Gull defense dominated the first half, holding the Saints to only two shots and forcing 12 turnovers. At the break, Salisbury led in shots, 24-2, faceoffs, 8-of-12, and ground balls, 22-10.

DePol opened the second half with his third score at the 13:21 mark of the third quarter, before assisting Phipps just 10 seconds later. 

Marymount's Matt Justice found the cage for the Saints' first score at the 8:52 mark, and from there DePol would trade two scores with two more Marymount goals to end the third with a 14-3 SU advantage.

Kalama closed the game with Salisbury's final goal in the fourth, allowing the Sea Gulls to lock up the top seed and a first-round bye in the CAC tournament. With the bye, SU will host a CAC semifinal game on Saturday, April 26.

Senior goalkeeper Alex Taylor earned the win, playing 45:14 in the cage and making two saves. 

Salisbury now looks forward to its final regular-season game, traveling to No. 2 Stevenson University on Saturday; the opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
