ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team earned an 8-1 win in its penultimate Capital Athletic Conference match of the 2015 season at St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday afternoon.

The Gulls opened the day with a three-match sweep of the doubles contests, losing just five total games in the three matches.

Senior Allison Lutz and freshman Megan Soderlund paired up to grab an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles while senior Katie Youlios and junior Natalie Savage picked up an 8-2 win at No. 1. Sophomore Claudia Lohn and freshman Charlotte Walker were good for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles to complete the sweep.

Salisbury (12-5, 5-1 CAC) won five of the six singles matches, claiming those five in straight sets, led by Lutz and Walker winning at the No. 5 and 6 spots, respectively, by matching 6-0, 6-1 scores.

Soderlund also took her first set 6-0, at No. 4, before claiming the match with a 6-3 second set. Savage won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1, while Lohn earned the final match for Salisbury, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 3.

The only loss of the day for the Gulls came at No. 2, where Youlios dropped a three-set decision, 4-6, 6-1, 10-7.

The Sea Gulls return home on Sunday, April 12, hosting Elizabethtown College at 2 p.m. Prior to the match, the Sea Gulls will honor their seniors, and Salisbury's former student-athletes selected for the CAC's Silver Anniversary Team.
