SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's and women's swimming teams took on Pennsylvania St. Altoona Saturday afternoon as the Sea Gulls collected 26 first-place finishes as they defeated the Lions. The men posted a 140-64 win, while the women prevailed 145-63.
Men
Sophomore
Andrew Ward notched his first win on the day for the Sea Gulls in the 50-meter backstroke, posting a time of 30.47 seconds. Ward would earn his second first-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle, recording a time of 4:36.41.
Sophomore
Peter Moyer earned his first first-place finish on the day in the 800-meter freestyle, recording a time of 9:08.75. Moyer went on to earn his second top spot in the 100-meter breast stroke, posting a time of 1:13.28.
The men would round off the day with the same vigor as they started earning first-place in the 200-meter freestyle relay as
David Carins, Ward,
Travis Maida and
Brenden Martin combined for a time of 1:45.85.
Women
The women's side got the Sea Gulls started early when they took first in the 200-meter medley relay as Madison Tinus, Sami Davidson, Nikky Marders and Ali Johnston all combined for a recorded time of 2:15.61.
Junior Bizu Baldinazzo earned her first individual victory in the 50-meter backstroke, recording a time of 33.49 seconds. Baldinazzo continued her winning ways as she took her second victory on the day in the 50-meter freestyle, notching a time of 29.50 seconds.
Senior Layne Gable grabbed her first individual first-place finish in the 100-meter butterfly, posting a time of 1:09.51. Gable shined for Salisbury later in the afternoon when she earned her second first-place finish in the 100-meter IM, notching a time of 1:14.30.
The women's squad ended the day on a high note as Shelby Steere, Maddie Snow, Gable and Baldinazzo claimed first in the 200-meter freestyle relay when they combined for a time of 2:00.15.
The Sea Gulls will be back in the water next Saturday, November 19, as they look to take on Barton College. The meet is set for 1 p.m.
