Savage moves to top of record book in career doubles wins; Sea Gulls sweep two CAC matches

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Senior Natalie Savage secured her spot atop the Salisbury University women's tennis record books as the Sea Gulls earned a pair of 9-0 Capital Athletic Conference wins at Penn State University-Harrisburg and York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday

Savage teamed with junior Zoe Moffat to begin the day with an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. The victory was the 56th doubles win of Savage's career, which put her at the top of the program list, breaking a tie with Katie Youlios (2012-15).

The Port Murray, New Jersey native also sits at the top of the program's singles wins list, assuring that she will graduate as the winningest player in program history.

The Sea Gulls dropped just two total games in the victory, with junior Claudia Lohn and sophomore Megan Soderlund, at No. 2 doubles, and senior Megan Knapp and freshman Taylor Cooper, at No. 3, winning 8-0, as well.

In singles play, Savage, Moffat, Cooper, and Knapp, each earned 6-0, 6-0 wins. Lohn picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 and Soderlund collected a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4.

Salisbury 9, York 0

The Sea Gulls (11-3, 3-2 CAC) capped the day with another sweep. Savage and Moffat matched their 8-0 effort from earlier in the day, while Lohn and Soderlund won 8-1 at No. 2 and Cooper and Knapp came up with an 8-4 victory at No. 3.

York (6-2, 1-2 CAC) earned no more than three games in any singles match, with Cooper rolling to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5.

Moffat at No. 2, Lohn at No. 3, and Knapp at No. 6 each surrendered just one game. Moffat and Lohn were 6-1, 6-0 winners, while Knapp earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Soderlund, at No. 4, grabbed a 6-2, 6-0 win and Savage collected a 6-2, 6-1 win at the top singles spot.

The Sea Gulls will be back on the courts next Saturday, April 10 hosting The College of New Jersey at 10 a.m., and St. Mary's College of Maryland at 2 p.m., at the SU Tennis Courts.
