ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team won its third match in a row, topping St. Mary's College of Maryland 9-0 on Saturday for the squad's first Capital Athletic Conference win of the year.

Salisbury (5-5, 1-1 CAC) opened the victory with three points in doubles play, giving up just five games to the Seahawks (4-6, 0-2 CAC).

Junior Sage Cole and freshman Shannon Hickman kicked things off with an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles, while senior Claudia Lohn and freshman Jordan Schaefer won 8-2 at No. 2 and freshmen Annika Kezman and Julia Kwedi earned an 8-3 win at No. 1.

In singles play, Hickman cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6, while Kwedi had a nearly equally easy path to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2. Lohn went for a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 and Schaefer earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4.

The closest matches of the singles draw came from Cole at No. 5 and Kezman at No. 1. Cole rolled to a 6-0 win in the opening set before being tested in the second, winning 7-5. Kezman won 6-3, 7-6 at the to spot as Salisbury earned its fourth 9-0 win of the season.

The Sea Gulls return home on Sunday, April 2, hosting Penn State University-Harrisburg and York College of Pennsylvania. The Harrisburg match will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the York match at 1 p.m. Prior to the start of the contest against the Spartans, the Sea Gulls will celebrate Head Coach Randy Halfpap, who earned his 200th career win earlier this season, and the team's lone senior Lohn.
