SALISBURY, Md. – The top-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team erased a five-goal deficit with eight minutes remaining to defeat No. 10 University of Mary Washington in a Capital Athletic Conference thriller on Saturday afternoon as the Sea Gulls celebrated Senior Day.

Mary Washington (12-3, 5-2 CAC) took a 3-0 lead midway through the first half as Salisbury (13-0, 5-0 CAC) was unable to get anything going on the offensive end. Alissa Talbert finally broke through for the Sea Gulls, spinning past a defender to notch the first goal of the game for the maroon and gold with 11:48 remaining in the half.

The Eagles got the goal back to make it 4-1, but Emily McQuay responded less than a minute later to bring Salisbury back within two. Taylor Poore then connected on a free position shot with 5:40 left in the half to make it 4-3 going into the break.

The Sea Gulls came out of the break firing, as Krissy Murphy tied the game at four just 52 seconds into the second half on a feed from Talbert.

Mary Washington rattled off five straight goals, however, taking a 9-4 lead with just over 16 minutes remaining.

After eight minutes without a goal from either team, the Salisbury offense flipped a switch as Talbert found Gabrielle Mongno in front of the net, who ended the 21:50 scoring drought for the Sea Gulls to start the comeback with 7:58 left in the game.

Murphy then tallied her second of the day to make it 9-6 and found Dana King streaking down the middle just 30 seconds later to pull Salisbury within two, 9-7.

The Eagles scored their final goal of the day with just under five minutes remaining to make it 10-7, but it was all Salisbury the rest of the way.

Emma Skoglund pulled Salisbury within two once again, 10-8, on Talbert's third assist of the afternoon. Mongno then bounced one in to make it a one-goal game 42 seconds later on her second of the day after Murphy found her following a free position attempt. King completed the comeback with 2:29 remaining as she beat the keeper up high on a feed from Poore to make it 10-10.

After the Eagles came up with the draw control, Salisbury goalkeeper Gianna Falcone caused a huge turnover by intercepting a Mary Washington pass. The Sea Gulls then took it the length of the field, as Murphy found Skoglund in front of the net for the game-winner.

Falcone, who made nine saves in the game, came up with one final save with 31 seconds remaining to seal the victory for Salisbury.

The Sea Gulls are back in action on Wednesday, April 18 as they host Marymount (Va.) University for their final regular season home game at 4 p.m.
