Sea Gulls fall at TCNJ, 7-2

EWING, N.J. – The Salisbury University women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the 2019 season, falling 7-2 at No. 22 The College of New Jersey on Saturday evening.

The Lions (11-0) were able to take all three of the doubles matches with junior Jordan Schaefer and sophomore Laura Brown falling at No. 2 and senior Taylor Cooper and freshman Sarah Dover losing at No. 3. Each pair fell by 8-3 scores, while junior Annika Kezman and sophomore Sydney Soto fell at No. 1 by an 8-0 score.

In singles, the Sea Gulls (3-1) picked up wins by Cooper and Soto. Cooper earned a 4-6, 7-5, 10-6 win in three sets at No. 3 while Soto earned a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win at No. 4.

Kezman fell at No. 1 by a 6-1, 6-0 score while Brown dropped a 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) contest at No. 2. Schaefer took a 6-3, 6-1 defeat at No. 5 while senior Shannon Hickman fell at No. 6 by a 6-3, 6-0 score.

The Sea Gulls return to action on Sunday, March 10 traveling to No. 19 New York University, in a match beginning at 11 a.m.
