Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md.- The seventh-ranked Salisbury University women's lacrosse team made the short trip up the Eastern Shore and took down the Washington Shorewomen, 16-7, on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Salisbury kicked off the game with a three-goal run. Alexis Strobel scored the game's first goal six minutes into the game.

An assisted goal by Gianna DeMato from Delaney Hill and an unassisted strike by Emma Skoglund extended the Sea Gull lead, 3-0, with 17:43 remaining in the first half.

Washington put a stop to the Salisbury run with an assisted goal by Colleen Keefe from Lauren Brenner.

Salisbury proceeded to net two goals in a three-minute span. Lily Cavallaro and Lydia McNulty both tallied unassisted to extend the lead, 5-2, with 12:!5 remaining in the half.

Washington answered with an Olivia Miller goal assisted by Hannah Lee to decrease the Sea Gull lead 5-3.

Two more Sea Gull goals were scored in less than a minute in between each other. McNulty scored her second unassisted goal of the day to double the Sea Gull lead, 6-3. Then, Skoglund capitalized on a man-up opportunity after a foul on Washington College from a Strobel pass.

Lee put away a goal to cut the Salisbury lead to 7-3 but Erin Scannell rounded out the scoring before halftime with back-to-back goals to push the lead up to 9-3.

The two teams traded goals after halftime. Forty seconds into the second half, Lauren Brenner scored off a free-position. Julie Talbert responded with a goal from DeMato, then Anna Bennett put a shot away to trim the Salisbury lead down to 10-5 with 23:34 left in regulation.

Salisbury scored two in a row a minute apart. First, Riley Hartman took advantage of a free-position and buried the shot past the Shorewomen goalie. Scannell tallied her third goal of the game with a marker 49 seconds after Hartman's goal.

After a Salisbury foul, Keefe took advantage of a free position with 18:24 left in the game.

After Washington's man-up goal, Salisbury started pulling away with goals from Scannell, Cavallaro and DeMato to extend Salisbury's lead up to 15-6 in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Keefe stopped the three-goal run from Salisbury with her third goal of the game but McNulty sealed the win with an unassisted man-up goal with just over five minutes left in the game to seal the 16-7 win.

Erin Scannell led the Sea Gull attack with a season-best four goals on nine shots.

Lydia McNulty recorded a hat trick while Emma Skoglund, Gianna DeMato, and Lily Cavallaro each netted a pair of goals. DeMato dished out two assists with five draw controls in the victory.

Skye Graham made five saves in the goal for the Sea Gulls
- Salisbury won the draw control battle, 14-11. Anna Wehland collected four draw controls.
