SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team's late-game comeback was cut short by a buzzer-beating shot by the Stockton Ospreys, who won 82-80 on Wednesday night at the Maggs PAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Freshman Sean Carr got the offense rolling for the Sea Gulls, matching Stockton by scoring the first seven points for Salisbury. Both teams traded leads throughout the first 15 minutes of play.
• Stockton held its largest lead of the first half at 46-38 with 3:44 before halftime. From there Salisbury turned things around, going on an 8-2 scoring run to round out the half to make it 48-46 at the break. Carr scored six of the final eight points for the Sea Gulls, including a three-point play with 18 seconds left in the half.
• Neither team lacked offense in the first half, with both Salisbury and Stockton virtually matching each other with shooting percentages over 48 percent. Gary Briddell and Jordan Oates each finished with 13 in the half, and Carr lead the Sea Gulls with 14 points.
• The second half was just as entertaining as the first, with multiple lead changes and both offenses still firing on all cylinders. Stockton shot 43.3 percent (13-of-30) and Salisbury shot 51.9 percent (14-of-27) from the field in the second half.
• Salisbury trailed 80-74 with 3:34 to play after a three-pointer from Stockton's Luciano Lubrano. After a Sea Gull timeout, Briddell muscled up two offensive rebounds after a missed free throw and scored a tough layup to cut the Osprey lead down to 80-76. On the ensuing possession, Carr found a lane and finished a dunk with authority over a Stockton defender to bring Salisbury within two at 80-78 with 1:27 to go.
• After a miss on the Stockton end, Johnny Fierstein took control for the Sea Gulls, driving in the lane and laying in a basket to knot things up at 80-80 with 43 seconds left. On the next Stockton possession, Oates came up with a huge block and steal to allow Salisbury a chance to call timeout and set up a final play with eight seconds remaining.
• Briddell took the inbound but lost the dribble, and DJ Campbell picked up the loose ball for Stockton, driving it to the other basket for the game-winning finger roll as time expired.

SALISBURY GAME NOTES

• Gary Briddell played all 40 minutes and lead the Sea Gull offense with 28 points (11-of-19) and eight rebounds.
• Jordan Oates finished with 24 points (7-of-10), including five three-pointers, and hauled in eight rebounds. Oates also added four blocks and a pair of steals to his line.
• Freshman Sean Carr had a career day with 17 points (7-of-11), eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.
• Salisbury shot 50 percent (30-of-60) from the floor for the game and outrebounded the Ospreys 35-32, including 12-11 on the offensive end.

STOCKTON GAME NOTES

• Kyion Flanders finished with a game-high 30 points (10-of-21) for the Ospreys. Flanders went 8-of-16 from beyond the arc.
• DJ Campbell tallied 24 points (9-of-17) and seven rebounds, including the game-winning layup as the clock hit zeroes.
• The Ospreys held a significant advantage from three-point range at 42.9 percent (12-of-28) compared to Salisbury's 30.8 percent (8-of-26).
