Box Score Men's Soccer blanks Virginia Wesleyan, 2-0
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Salisbury University men's soccer team recorded its first road win of the season with a 2-0 shutout over the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Salisbury offense wanted to get off to a fast start. After a throw-in entered the box, Ethan Dolezal sent a strike that was headed towards the back of the net before the VWU goalkeeper made an incredible kick save to keep the Sea Gulls off the scoreboard in the third minute of the game.
- In the 48th minute, Salisbury had a chance to break the tie with a penalty kick. Cullen Myers sent a strike to the bottom left corner, but the shot was read perfectly by the VWU goalkeeper to keep the score tied.
- The Sea Gulls broke the scoreless tie in the 54th minute. Brady Young sent a free-kick into the box where Dolezal would pop a header in the air and Alex Floyd would then head the ball into the top left corner for the opening goal of the contest.
- It did not take long for the Sea Gull offense to strike again. In the 58th minute, Kiran Chikmath brought the ball up the field and found Myers in the corner. After making a dribble move on the defender, Myers sent a cross over to Dolezal who settled the ball down and sent a strike into the top right corner of the net for the final goal of the game.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
- The Sea Gulls tallied 23 shots with 14 on goal.
- Alex Floyd recorded his first collegiate goal in the 54th minute.
- Ethan Dolezal registered his third goal of the season. Dolezal has scored in three consecutive contests.
- Cullen Myers led the Sea Gulls with six shots with three on goal.
- Brady Young and Kiran Chikmath each had three shots.
- Gabe Dunn drew the start in goal and collected four saves to earn his first career clean sheet.
- Salisbury and Virginia Wesleyan both earned five corner kicks.
VIRGINIA WESLEYAN GAME NOTES
- The Marlins notched 12 shots with six being on net.
- Griffin Potter had 10 saves for the Royals.
