No. 4 Field Hockey collects 10th win in 5-1 victory over St. Mary's

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The fourth-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team cruised to its 10th win in a row to start the season with a 5-1 win over the St. Mary's Seahawks on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • McKenna Horner got the scoring started early in the first quarter. A turnover in midfield led to a transition chance for SU. Horner's turnaround shot found the back of the cage for the opening goal of the contest.
  • Mack Dinopoulos doubled up SU's lead in the 21st minute on a redirect from McKenzie Mitchell's initial shot.
  • McKenzie Jamison tacked onto Salisbury's advantage right before halftime. Molly Reardon's shot was saved by the St. Mary's keeper before Jamison sunk the rebound to give the Sea Gulls the three-goal cushion at the end of the first half.
  • Midway through the third, Reardon added to SU's lead with a score in front of the cage.
  • Jordan Brooks put away Salisbury's fifth goal of the day with just under four minutes to go in the game.
  • Brenna Ziegler cut into the SU lead with a late goal to answer Brooks' tally but Salisbury cruised to the win.
