EWING, N.J. – The No. 1 Salisbury University women's lacrosse team fell on the road, 14-11, to the No. 7 TCNJ Lions in the 2022 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship Quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Salisbury began the game on a quick two-goal run in the first with goals from Delaney Hill and Emma Skoglund.
• TCNJ responded with its own two-goal goal run after two converted free position shots.
• The Sea Gulls attack pressed on and tallied two more goals by Lily Cavallaro and Camryn Pepper to round out the scoring in the first.
• Both teams jostled for possession to begin the second quarter. TCNJ struck first at the 9:38 mark to cut into the Sea Gulls' lead, 4-3.
• Just over a minute later, Pepper scored and Lydia McNulty converted a free position shot to push the lead to 6-3 with 7:06 left in the first half.
• After TCNJ netted a free position with four minutes left in the second quarter, Pepper dished out two dimes to Leah Vilov and McNulty to extend the Sea Gulls' lead to four, 8-4.
• Wayden Ay scored her second goal of the day for the Lions with 27 seconds left on the clock to send the teams into halftime with a score of 8-5.
• TCNJ tied the game at eight midway through the third quarter after three straight goals to open the second half.
• Skoglund and Hill teamed up to give the Sea Gulls at the 6:22 mark in the third quarter.
• The Lions took the 11-9 lead with a three-goal run to close out the third quarter, including a buzzer-beater by Anna Devlin.
• TCNJ made it five unanswered goals after they netted two goals in the fourth to extend its lead to 13-9 with 7:37 left to play.
• Salisbury stifled the run after Skoglund scored her third goal of the day from Pepper's third assist of the day to make it a 13-10 game.
• The Lions put away one more goal with 1:28 left in the game.
• The Sea Gulls didn't go down without a fight. Lauren Valenti found the back of the net with 1:03 left but the lead was too much for Salisbury to overcome and the game finished with a final score of 14-11.

• Camryn Pepper tallied a team-high five points on two goals and three assists.
• Emma Skoglund tallied four points on three goals and an assist.
• Lydia McNulty scored two goals.
• Meridith Price dished out two assists.
• Delaney Hill finished with one goal and one assist.
• Caroline McKenna collected five draw controls, two ground balls and caused four turnovers.
• Leah Vilov collected five ground balls and caused two turnovers.
• Mary Claire Hisle tallied seven saves in goal.

TCNJ GAME NOTES

• The Lions were 8-for-11 on free-position shots.
• Jennifer LaRocca tallied five points on three goals and two assists.
• Anna Wright scored three goals and dished out an assist.
• Anna Devlin scored three goals.
• Wayden Ay and Ally Tobler scored two goals each.
• Julia Charest earned the win in goal and tallied eight saves.

• Salisbury finished the 2022 season with a 17-3 overall record and champions of the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference.
