No. 4 Field Hockey rolls through Virginia Wesleyan, 6-0

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The fourth-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team had six different goal scorers and didn't allow a single shot in its 6-0 win over the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It took 30 seconds for Salisbury to get on the board. Molly Reardon took the ball on the wings and her centering pass deflected off the VWU keeper and bounced into the goal.
  • Four minutes later, Mack Dinopoulos deflected in a shot from McKenzie Mitchell after a pass from McKenna Horner to double SU's lead.
  • Allie Davis tacked onto Salisbury's lead in the seventh minute with a one-timer on a Mitchell assist.
  • Kaitlyn DeModna put away the fourth goal of the first quarter in the ninth minute on another assist from Mitchell.
  • Mitchell notched the fifth goal of the quarter with just over two minutes left in the first quarter on a rebound off the VWU keeper.
  • Elle Wood scored SU's final goal in the 23rd minute when she put away a loose ball in front of the cage on a penalty corner.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES VIRGINIA WESLEYAN GAME NOTES
  • The Salisbury defense did not allow a shot or a penalty corner in the game.
  • Emma Wehr notched 10 saves for the Marlins.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury will head north to Ewing, N.J. to take on the 16th-ranked TCNJ Lions on Saturday, Sept. 24.
  • Push back is set for 1 p.m.
