No. 4 Field Hockey declaws No. 16 TCNJ, 2-1

EWING, N.J. – The fourth-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team continued to roll with its third win over a ranked opponent of the season with a 2-1 victory on the road against the 16th-ranked TCNJ Lions on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Salisbury struck first in the ninth minute of the game. Back-to-back shots off the penalty corner were stopped by the TCNJ keeper but Molly Reardon put away the rebound for the opening goal of the contest.
  • Another penalty corner allowed doubled SU's lead in the 21st minute of the game. Salisbury drew a foul in the circle to draw a penalty stroke. Allie Williams stepped up to the spot and buried the stroke to push the Salisbury lead to 2-0.
  • TCNJ cut the lead in half in the 27th minute on a Rayhanah Ahmed goal.
  • The Salisbury defense locked down TCNJ for the rest of the game. The Sea Gulls only allowed two second-half shots by the Lions.
SALISBURY GAME NOTES
  • It is Salisbury's first win at TCNJ since the 2018 season.
  • Salisbury tallied 11 shots with nine on target.
  • Molly Reardon and Allie Williams scored the goals for the Sea Gulls.
  • Mackenzie Peacock notched three saves in net for her eighth win of the season.
TCNJ GAME NOTES
  • TCNJ was limited to seven shots and three penalty corners.
  • Rayhanah Ahmed scored the lone goal for the Lions.
  • Dani Britton made seven saves in goal.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury continues on the road on Wednesday, Sept. 28 against the Catholic Cardinals.
  • The game from Washington D.C. is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
