No. 4 Field Hockey powers through Catholic, 4-1

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The fourth-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team cruised to a 4-1 victory on Wednesday over the Catholic Cardinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It took 27 minutes for Salisbury to break the deadlock. After Allie Davis' initial shot was blocked, Emma Jeffries put away the rebound for the opening salvo of the contest.
  • Just under three minutes into the second half, Salisbury received a penalty stroke after a foul inside the arc. Davis stepped up and rocketed the ball into the back of the cage to double Salisbury's lead.
  • McKenna Horner pushed SU's lead to 3-1 in the 46th minute after McKenzie Mitchell passed the ball over to Horner after a Catholic turnover.
  • Catholic chipped into SU's lead in the 51st minute on a Kellie Caputo goal but Salisbury added insurance in the 59th minute when McKenzie Jamison scored off a penalty corner play.

  • Kellie Caputo and Mary Parker teamed up for the lone Cardinal goal.
  • Abigail Kearney made four saves.
UP NEXT
  • Salisbury is scheduled to play St. Mary's on Saturday, Oct. 1.
  • The game is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
