Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Hunteman’s strike lifts No. 6 Field Hockey past No. 9 Williams, 1-0

GLASSBORO, N.J. – A fourth-quarter goal by Arden Hunteman proved enough for the sixth-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team, who won its sixth straight by clipping the ninth-ranked Williams College Ephs, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Richard Wackar Stadium on the campus of Rowan University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Each team put one shot on goal in the first quarter. McKenna Horner was on target for the Sea Gulls in the fourth minute but thwarted by a defensive save, while Pilar Torres' attempt in the 10th minute was denied by SU keeper Addy O'Connell.
  • Salisbury outshot Williams 2-1 in the second quarter, with Ephs goalie Gates Tenerowicz making one save and the WC defense making another save to keep the game scoreless at halftime.
  • O'Connell stepped up in a major way as the Ephs turned up the heat in the third quarter. Williams drew five penalty corners and took eight shots in the period, with O'Connell keeping every single one out of the cage.
  • The Sea Gulls turned the tide in the fourth quarter with four shots in the first minute and a half, all stopped by Tenerowicz.
  • In the 50th minute, Marli McDorman threaded a pass through four Eph defenders to the middle of the arc. Arden Hunteman, who subbed on for SU moments earlier, took a backhanded one-timer and sniped it into the right corner of the cage for the long-awaited breakthrough to put Salisbury on top 1-0.
  • The late goal took the air out of Williams' sails as the Sea Gulls didn't allow another shot for the final 10 minutes to close out the win.
