SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University track and field teams wrapped up their home slate and celebrated 12 graduating seniors at the Eastern Shore Challenge on Saturday at the SU Track & Field Complex.

The Sea Gull men won the team event with 238 points, well in front of second-place Washington & Lee at 126 points. Maryland Eastern Shore (102.5), Christopher Newport (63) and Delaware State (40) rounded out the top five.

The Sea Gull women earned a second-place finish at 116 points. Washington & Lee won the team portion with 245.5 points, followed by SU, Maryland Eastern Shore (89), the Delaware Track Club (68) and CNU (53.5) to complete the top five.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Men
- Kai Smith earned three first-place finishes on the day, breaking the tape in the 200-meter dash (21.95), 400-meter run (personal-best 48.67) and as the anchor of the 4x100-meter relay. Smith's 400-meter time vaults him into the top 50 nationally in the event.
- Smith was joined by Jacob Shelton, Sherrod Frye and Ryan Kramer to grab a first-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay in 42.21 seconds.
- Connor Kinch won the 5,000-meter run in a personal-best 15:53.92, headlining a quartet of SU runners to crack the top five, including Jason Cave (16:00.86, second), Matt Grossi (16:04.06, third) and Sam Bodmer (16:18.44, fifth).
- Frye set a personal record in the 200-meter dash, finishing right behind Smith in second place in 22.54 seconds. Shelton (23.42) and Mike Heinz (personal-best 23.50) crossed fifth and sixth, respectively.
- Heinz broke a second personal record on the way to a second-place finish in the 400-meter run in 49.55 seconds.
- Rashawn Markman placed top-two in a pair of events, winning the triple jump at 14.97 meters (49-1.5) and taking second in the long jump at 6.79 meters (22-3.5). Markman's triple jump result goes down as the fifth-best in NCAA Division III this season.
- Frye (14.20m, 46-7.25), Jon Alicea (13.14m, 43-1.5) and Zion Wamley (12.79m, 41-11.5) rounded out the top four in the triple jump behind Markman. Wamley also finished fifth in the long jump at 6.49 meters (21-3.5).
- Cameron Hasko won the javelin throw at 59.48 meters (195-2), with Keifer Thomas (49.36m, 161-11) slotting in fourth. In eight career home meets, Hasko has finished first in the javelin seven times.
- Luis Smith grabbed a second-place finish in the hammer throw (46.51m, 152-7) and took third in the shot put (14.15m, 46-5.25).
- Mason Breeze finished second in the discus throw at a personal-best 47.89 meters (157-1), followed by Logan Kelsch (41.90m, 137-6) in fourth and Jacob Reeves (41.87m, 137-4) in fifth. Breeze also came in fifth in the shot put (13.39m, 43-11.25).
- Travis Wingate ran the 110-meter hurdles in 18.88 seconds, good for second place.
- Three Sea Gulls finished in the top six in the 100-meter dash, with Kramer (11.82), Ryan Temple (personal-best 11.83) and Shelton (11.84) finishing fourth through sixth.
- Dylan Haun (1.85m, 6-0.75) and Andrew McGinley (1.80m, 5-10.75) clocked in fourth and fifth, respectively, in the high jump.
- Rajan Turner grabbed a top-five finish in the 800-meter run, slotting in fifth in a personal-best 2:08.33.
- Elliott Freeland took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.13.
- Tristan Dutton was one of two competitors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing first in 10:57.72.
- Salisbury honored eight senior men at the end of their final home meet: Tyson Bowie, Jason Cave, Austin Foote, Elliott Freeland, Sherrod Frye, Luis Smith, Keifer Thomas and Zion Wamley.
Women
- Mia Hill claimed top marks in the long jump at a personal-best 5.38 meters (17-8).
- The 4x100-meter relay team of Karia Forvil, Marlyse Haack, Emma Christman and Hill crossed the finish line second in 51.58 seconds.
- Alyssa Santoro led a pack of Sea Gulls in the 5,000-meter run, finishing second in 19:28.81. Madi Sisson (19:55.49) crossed in fourth, followed by Allyson Wagner (20:00.91) in fifth.
- Haack earned a pair of individual top-three finishes, taking second in the triple jump (10.58m, 34-8.5) and third in the 200-meter dash (27.73).
- Lauren Knapp soared to second in the pole vault, tying a personal record at 2.95 meters (9-8). Knapp also finished fourth in the high jump at 1.30 meters (4-3.25).
- Grace Dear placed top-four in both hurdle races, taking third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:25.74) and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (19.29).
- Destinee Ekanem grabbed third in the 400-meter run in 1:07.45.
- Kailey Jarboe clocked in fourth in the javelin throw (18.49m, 60-8) and fifth in the discus throw (32.61m, 107-0), setting personal records in both.
- Christman took fourth in the triple jump at 9.95 meters (32-7.75).
- Abby Simmons finished fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:35.59.
- Senior honorees on the women's side included Erin Connelly, Destinee Ekanem, Alyssa Santoro and Abby Simmons.
