Track & Field makes last push at Widener Final Qualifier

CHESTER, Pa. – The Salisbury University track and field teams saw their athletes make their closing cases for national recognition at the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday at Quick Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Men
  • Kai Smith set a new personal record on the way to winning the 200-meter run, breaking the tape in 21.58 seconds.
  • The 4x100-meter relay team of Jacob Shelton, Sherrod Frye, Ryan Kramer and Smith finished second in a tight 41.42 seconds, shaving nearly a quarter-second off their previous season-best time.
  • Shelton qualified for the finals in the 100-meter dash by finishing fourth in 10.78 seconds; in the finals he ran fifth in 10.86 seconds.
  • Logan Kelsch finished fourth in the discus throw at 45.85 meters (150-5), and Mason Breeze came in right behind in fifth at 45.77 meters (150-2).
Women
  • Alyssa Santoro wrapped up her season by setting a personal record in the 5,000-meter run, finishing 17th in 18:44.11.
  • Madi Sisson crossed 22nd in the 5,000-meter run in 19:29.74, just two hundredths off her personal best.
UP NEXT
  • Sea Gull athletes who qualify will compete at the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships from May 25-28 at Polisseni Track & Field Complex in Rochester, N.Y.
  • Qualifiers for the national meet will be revealed on Sunday, May 21 on NCAA.com.
