Windsor named Honda Division III Softball Athlete of the Year Finalist by CWSA

LOS ANGELES - Salisbury University senior pitcher/outfielder Lindsey Windsor continues to add to her postseason accolades as she was named the Division III Honda Athlete of the Year finalist for Softball as announced on Saturday by the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

Windsor is now designated one of 11 finalists for the prestigious Division III Honda Athlete of the Year. This will be voted on at the end of the academic year by national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of THE CWSA program, now in its 47th year.

"When I received the news, all I had was a feeling of overwhelming thankfulness and gratitude," said Windsor. "I am honored to be in the running for the Honda DIII Athlete of the Year along with so many great student-athletes from across the country. I would like to thank everyone that has helped me in the journey. This year, I was surrounded by incredible opportunities and even better people and I am so proud to be a part of this team and Salisbury University. What a joy it is to share this honor with my teammates and my community."

Windsor, a senior hailing from Union Bridge, Md., was most recently named the Division III National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Player of the Year and earned NFCA First-Team All-America honors and All-Region First Team honors for the second season in a row. She became the first player in program history to earn the Player of the Year award since it started in 2016.

The pitcher/outfielder is a three-time Coast-to-Coast Conference (C2C) Pitcher of the Year and has earned All-C2C First Team honors three times in her career.

In the circle, Windsor recorded an 18-2 record with a 1.14 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 12 complete games, four shutouts and three saves in 34 appearances. She allowed just 24 earned runs and 40 walks across 147 innings and struck out 122 batters while limiting opponents to a .194 average.

At the plate, Windsor batted 396 with 50 runs, 65 hits, nine doubles, five triples, nine home runs and 55 RBI in 53 contests. She slugged .677 with a .444 on-base percentage to total a 1.121 OPS and stole 15 bases in 16 attempts.

During the season, Windsor reached base in 46 of the 53 games she batted in and collected at least a hit in 40 of those contests with 19 multi-hit games.

In the nation, Windsor ranked ninth in RBIs, 10th in total bases (111), 28th in hits, 40th in home runs and 48th in triples.

"We are so proud of Lindsey and all of her accomplishments," stated head coach Lacey Lord. "It is an incredible honor for her to be in the running for such a prestigious award. Lindsey is not only an incredible athlete but an even better person and I am so excited for her. Her positivity is infectious and she leads with such grace and humility. She is such a phenomenal leader and excels on the field, in the classroom and in the community. Lindsey is so well respected and I can't think of a more deserving person for this award."

All Honda Sports nominees from Division III and Division II become a finalist for the prestigious 2023 Honda Athlete of the Year in their respective divisions, presented in a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 26, at 5:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. ET, from the campus of UCLA.
