DANBURY, Conn. – The 11th-ranked Salisbury University softball team earned three
All-ECAC selections, with
Lacey Lord capturing her second straight ECAC Coach of the Year award.
Carrie Jacoby, Emily Stockman, and
Sydney Adolfson earned All-ECAC honors for the Sea Gulls.
Lord's fifth season at the helm in Salisbury proved to be another fruitful one. The Sea Gulls went 36-8-1 for the year. They won a fourth consecutive NCAA regional championship, hosting the regional round of the NCAA Tournament for a fifth straight postseason. Lord also passed a career milestone this season, surpassing 400 career wins.
Stockman, a senior from Brunswick, Md., is fresh off her second NFCA Gold Glove award after starting all 45 of the Sea Gulls' games on the year, recording 171 defensive putouts with 18 assists and only two errors, earning a .990 fielding percentage. She also caught seven runners attempting to steal a base. Her bat was just as strong at the plate as she was behind it, batting .333 with 26 runs scored on 47 hits, 12 doubles, one triple, 12 home runs, and 45 RBIs.
Jacoby, the senior from Lusby, Md., is fresh off an NFCA First-Team All-American award after posting a .438 batting average starting every game for SU this year. Jacoby led the Sea Gulls in batting average, hits, doubles, and slugging percentage. She posted 57 hits in 130 at-bats with 44 RBIs, 12 doubles, and eight home runs.
Adolfson, the sophomore from Newtown, Conn., posted a 21-4 record in the circle this season for the Sea Gulls, which included seven complete-game shutouts. She appeared in 32 games, making 24 starts. Adolfson racked up 90 strikeouts with a 1.35 ERA and three saves. She also tallied four hits and two RBIs at the plate in 18 appearances.
