No. 4 Field Hockey downs Geneseo, 3-1

GENESEO, N.Y. – The fourth-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team rebounded after back-to-back ranked losses on the road to collect a 3-1 victory on Saturday over the Geneseo Knights to begin its two-game New York weekend swing.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Sea Gulls netted a pair of goals in the opening frame of the game. In the 10th minute, McKenna Horner received a pass upfield from Alayna Gigliotti. Horner sent a pass near post to Emma Radabaugh, who redirected the ball past the keeper for the opening tally of the game.
  • Three minutes later, congestion in front of the cage led to another good scoring opportunity for the Sea Gulls. Radebaugh passed the ball over to Mack Dinopoulos and the shot was tipped on goal by Kaitlyn DeModna to double SU's lead.
  • A penalty corner play in the 26th minute led to Salisbury's third goal of the first half. Gigliotti got the corner over to Horner, who sent a pass across the cage to DeModna. DeModna slid the ball past the diving keeper to put the Sea Gulls up 3-0 at the half.
  • Geneseo got a goal back in the 54th minute on a penalty corner of its own. Sam Lewis connected on a feed from Shannon Cunningham but SU locked down the rest of the game to keep Geneseo at bay.
